
Duncan Ferguson
Director, Business Development
Duncan Ferguson is Director, Business Development with BPI group, North America.
He joined the company in 2003, bringing more than 22 years of broad-based business and human resources management experience.
As part of his current role, Mr. Ferguson is involved with the firm’s Talent Management practice, which focuses on consulting clients on executive coaching and career and leadership development. As part of this practice, he leads the firm’s 32SM offering which helps college graduates and young adults navigate the job market and develop a career planning strategy based on their calling, capabilities and connections. He has discussed this topic as a guest on WGN Radio and has been interviewed by the Wall Street Journal.
Whether coaching early careerists or senior executives, Mr. Ferguson combines his significant organizational experience and leadership insight to help individuals see the value they can provide to companies and other employees. Using assessments, 360-degree feedback and discussions, he helps people define their “offer” (their distinctive combination of skills, experience and characteristics) and understand how to better leverage these strengths within an organization. Some of his coaching engagements – including with firms such as Exelon, TruServe, BP, GATX, Ernst & Young, Amsted and Bank One – have helped leaders assume more senior roles and align themselves within an organization’s succession planning process.
Prior to joining BPI group, Mr. Ferguson served as a senior HR leader with BP-Amoco and Vice President-HR with GATX Corporation, where he was sought out as an internal coach by several mid- and senior-level executives.
Mr. Ferguson received his M.A. in labor and industrial relations and B.A. in economics from Michigan State University. He participates on two boards for his alma mater – the School of Labor and Industrial Relations Alumni Advisory Board and the College Transitions Institute Advisory Board. He also is a student mentor for the MSU - SLIR program. He is certified to conduct the Leadership Effectiveness Assessment and Myers Briggs assessment.
